Recap of the Weekend
Our second Young Adult RYC retreat welcomed 60 total (staff and participants), from 5 different states and 12 different parishes, to come together under one roof to celebrate our Catholic faith through prayer, praise, and activities. Our theme of humility provided us with a unique goal and objective for the weekend, that truly made it an even more memorable and blessed time for all.
the retreat theme was:

and He will lift you up."

Renewal Retreat
We were very excited to host our 2nd Annual RYC Renewal Young Adult Retreat, as we returned to our old stomping grounds at Marian Shrine to continue the legacy of Fr. Gus’s mission.
Much like our first retreat, we continued to offer a gentle welcome back into the faith for those who have been away from the church or have been interested in finding a way to return to it. Through a series of talks, activities, and small group discussions, we explored this year’s theme of humility.
Special Speaker: Chef Jae Lee
We were blessed to welcome Chef Jae Lee and his wife for this retreat! Chef Jae Lee was a former participant of RYC and today, he is a chef and owner of the restaurant Nowon in Manhattan. Jae gave his testimony on humility and renewing his faith in God through his life struggles.
On Friday night, we began with praise and icebreakers to get to know one another. (We were so loud we almost lost our voices.) We also had a talk and incorporated an interactive, visual activity to better understand the complex concept of humility. Afterwards, we divided into 7 small groups to further reflect and discuss what humility means to us both religiously and secularly.
Saturday was filled with more prayer, activities (such as scavenger hunts and escape the rooms, all with a deeper biblical meaning), and talks. We were fortunately blessed with beautiful weather and were able to enjoy it.
Prior to our special guest speaker Chef Jae presenting his talk, the RYC team had a special skit to go along with it. As we went into our small group discussions before silent dinner, we also prepared for confession.
The night was completed with Eucharistic adoration and confessions, as well as opportunities for participants to meet one-on-one with a Sister to discuss their personal faith or questions about the church.
The retreat was closed out on Sunday with a witness talk given by a team member, a prayer circle, as well as a closing mass led by our spiritual director Fr. Andrew Juhyun Lee.
We then unfortunately shared our goodbyes to all the participants near and far, with the promise that there would be more to come with RYC in the near future!
